On a quest to find the best eBikes, Propel founder Chris Nolte started going to EUROBIKE where he befriended Heiko Müller. Immediately taken by what Riese & Müller had started in Germany, and knowing Propel customers needed something tougher for handling the rough terrain of cities like New York, Chris started the process of convincing the brand to sell their eBikes in the states.
From their first innovation that launched the company in the early 90s—the award-winning Birdy—to their substantial lineup of electric mobility products today, Riese & Müller is one of the most innovative eBike brands in the world, and we’re proud to have been their first dealer in the U.S.

Which models are dual battery compatible?
Most, but not all, Riese & Müller models have a dual battery option you must select before ordering. The Tinker, the Roadster (and Mixte), Multicharger Mixte, and Charger3 Mixte are not dual battery compatible.
How far can I ride on a Riese & Müller?
With single and dual battery options, the range of R&M bikes is anywhere from 45 miles to around 100 miles. Though there are many factors that can affect the battery’s range, such as weather, terrain, weight, etc.
Can Riese & Müller eBikes handle any off-road riding?
All Riese & Müller eBikes can handle at least smooth maintained dirt roads, such as a fire road. For more adventurous off-road riding, check out the Delite Mountain, an electric trail mountain bike built to take on the rougher terrain.
How much do these eBikes cost?
Riese & Müller eBikes are in the higher price range as far as high-quality eBikes go, starting at $6,000 and going up to around $15,000, depending on the model and configuration. All models Propel sells come with the Bosch eBike system, which is the safest and most intuitive electric bike system available.
Who are Riese & Müller eBikes best suited for?
Just about anyone and everyone: retired folks who want to get out and move a little more, the family with one to three kids looking for a cargo bike with front bucket and rear loading options, the adventure seeker looking to go bike-packing, the eco-conscious person looking to lower their carbon footprint by commuting by bike (have you seen gas prices lately?). The price of these eBikes may seem a bit daunting to someone on a budget, but there are financing options available, and in the long run it is cheaper than maintaining a car.
How fast are Riese & Müller bikes?
Just about every model has a Class 1 (20mph max) and Class 3 (28mph max) option.
