The Specialized Turbo combines speed and style through an innovative electric-assist motor, advanced electronics, and sleek design. Capable of a top speed of 28 mph, the Turbo delivers superhuman power to anyone who rides it.
Similar to the Specialized Turbo S, the Specialized Turbo is a very powerful road-style electric bike. With a 36v down tube mounted battery and 250w gearless high-speed, direct drive rear hub motor, this bike will go fast – up to 28mph. The Turbo is extremely refined, quiet, and smooth, with the battery pack, computer display system and LED lighting kit all beautifully integrated. In order to cut costs, Specialized made some changes to the Turbo S with the introduction of the Turbo and Turbo X. Both models include a 20% smaller battery and motor, a SRAM X7 drive train and Formula C1 dual piston hydraulic disc brakes. The Turbo is a more affordable version of the Turbo S and still an excellent choice for a high-performance electric road bike.
Brakes: The Specialized Turbo is equipped with Italian-made Formula C1, dual piston hydraulic disc brakes. These versatile brakes also come with Formula’s new cartridge technology making them easy to maintain while providing great performance. No matter how hard you ride, stopping should be no concern with 180mm front and rear rotors, coupled with dual piston brake calipers weighing in at just 346 grams each.
Frame: The Specialized Turbo features a lightweight hydroformed 6061 aircraft grade aluminum frame. The frame features suspension optimized geometry, a tapered headtube and a cable inlet system which gives the bike an elegant solution for routing the wires and cables. This frame also comes with built-in mounts, which makes mounting a rack, water bottle, or fender bosses simple to do.
Drivetrain: The Turbo’s drivetrain consists of a high-performing SRAM X7 SL, 10-speed flat bar trigger shifter and a Shimano X7 type 2 10-speed, long cage rear derailleur with a SRAM PG 1030 10-speed cassette. This drive provides simple shifting while accurately being able to switch gears and climb hills.
Top Speed: The Specialized Turbo has a top speed of 28 mph in the highest level of pedal assist mode.
Sizing Options: The Specialized Turbo comes in frame sizes to meet the needs of every rider; available in Small (42cm), Medium (46cm), Large (50cm), and Extra Large (54cm). If you’re unsure of what size would be best for you, please contact us so that we can assist you in finding your correct fit.
Suspension: The Specialized Turbo comes with an extremely responsive and strong oversized alloy rigid front fork with a tapered steerer. The fork comes with fender eyelets and low rider mounts to make mounting additional accessories easy. Even at speeds of up to 28mph, this fork performs exceptionally well. This fork is what differentiates the Turbo X from the Turbo. If riding primarily on paved roads we recommend the Turbo. If looking to ride both on and off-road, choosing the Turbo X, would be our recommendation.
Tires: The comfort and performance of the Turbo is reinforced with its high-quality, smooth 700x45c Electrak trigger 47 tires with Armadillo protections and presta valves. Electrak tires are slightly larger than standard road tires and provide more air and cushion while riding. These tires are optimal for paved surfaces.
Color: The Specialized Turbo is available in one standard color; Dream Silver/Satin Black.
Warranty: Specialized offers a lifetime warranty on the frame, and a two year warranty on the motor system and battery.
Accessories: The Specialized Turbo comes with a kickstand making it an ideal commuter bike. The Turbo also comes equipped with braze ons on both sides of the seat stays, which make adding racks, or fenders simple to do. Our team has a lot of experience outfitting bikes with additional accessories, so be sure to reach out to us if there’s anything you may need.

Battery: The Turbo comes with a powerful, integrated downtube 36V12.7Ah 468Wh lithium-ion battery with a self-locking key release. The down tube mounted battery gives the Specialized Turbo great weight distribution, handling, and ease of use. It provides a range of up to 30 miles on the lowest level of assist. The battery comes equipped with an LED battery level indicator with a start-up diagnostic feature and magnetic connectors. The Turbo’s battery can be easily charged on or off the bike.
Motor: The Turbo utilizes the powerful custom built Specialized 200W nominal power (700W maximal power) G45C X12 direct drive, gearless, high-speed, rear hub motor for excellent acceleration and climbing. These powerful, high-speed motors are extremely responsive, quiet and excellent for climbing hills. The battery and motor on the Turbo are about 20% smaller than the battery and motor on the Turbo S, meaning at higher speeds the rider will have to work a little harder to coast at 28mph. The beauty of the Turbo is that it is still capable of performing remotely similar to the Turbo S yet at a more affordable cost.
Riding Modes: The Specialized system features a variety of drive modes to meet a wide range of needs, including start-throttle mode, pedal assistance eco mode, pedal assistance turbo mode and the option to turn all assist modes off. Start throttle mode propels you up to approximately 11mph and is operated by holding down the joystick located on the control pad. Turbo mode offers maximum power pedal assistance with the motor contributing an additional 100% to the rider’s pedal power, propelling you up to 28mph. Although, we have heard reports of up to 30mph and faster. Eco mode is the most effective drive mode and optimal for long tours by contributing the lowest amount of power while still giving you a sufficient amount of assistance. Lastly, the Turbo has the option to turn off all assist modes and the bike will perform as a normal non-assisted bike would.
Display: The Specialized large LCD illuminated Turbo Clean Cockpit display system provides information such as pedal assist level, the option to turn lights on or off, speed, trip, distance, battery level, and time. The sleekly designed control pad is operated by a transparent rubberized joystick and is located on the right grip allowing you to access all the computer and drive functions remotely, leaving your hands on the bar to maintain safety and security. To change motor settings while riding, simply push the large, glove friendly keys on the handlebar control pad. This ensures safety and stability, while still allowing you to control the motor for optimal performance.
Range: The Specialized Turbo utilizes an efficient 460Wh battery with a range of up to 30 miles in the lowest level of pedal assist under optimal conditions. Range will always vary depending on use of drive mode, how much you pedal, the type of terrain, and the rider’s weight.
